The pursuit of an MBA was a personal goal
The idea of going back to school after being in the workforce for 17 years was intimidating. I knew that it was going to be very challenging, but the pursuit of an MBA had been a personal goal for years, so I also knew I would be able to survive. The first semester is a shock for most. Learning how to balance work, family life, and school is daunting. It is also the start of the transition. We are built to adapt, feeling stressed makes part of the forging process.
The “reshaping” process
The first semester brings the heat that softens your current form to allow for reshaping. The subsequent semesters provide the pressure that further welds the old with the new. Part of the reason I chose this program is that it does a great job with the introduction and timing of the curriculum.
As you progress, previous course content is skillfully woven into the curriculum, providing you with a sense of comfort while at the same time, slowly building confidence. You show up as an individual, but we grow as a cohort. Early on, you’ll realize the importance of your teams. As the awkwardness wears off and the shyness fades, you will witness some of the most inspiring transformations you willever see.
Personal growth
The personal growth you will witness in your classmates is both motivating and contagious. Seeing such positive change in others made it easier for me to believe in my own progression, and that is when I started to thrive.
