A scholarship is a payment toward your tuition, but a discount reduces your tuition.
Scholarship Vs. Discount
What exactly is the difference between a scholarship and a discount and why do some schools offer scholarships and other schools offer discounts? At UT Dallas, the Executive MBA program often offers early admissions discounts. For example, for applications submitted by December 14, 2020, students will receive a $10,000 discount.
While a scholarship certainly sounds more elite than a discount, the outcome is essentially the same. A scholarship is a payment toward your tuition, but a discount reduces your tuition.
Tuition Reimbursement
Many companies provide tuition reimbursement. The US government offers a $5,250 tax credit toward each employee’s professional development. Any tuition reimbursed over the $5,250 is considered additional pay and will be added to the employees W-2 form at the end of the year. We’re proud to offer our early admissions discounts! This is value add to our students with the same advantage of a scholarship.
